The revolutionary Saber Bass VL Models are high performance, professional basses designed with the exclusive and patented Optical Pickup System, making the Saber’s tone and playing experience unlike any other bass. The Saber VL is superbly crafted, with a Swamp Ash body and a premium AAA flame maple top. The reinforced neck is a 34-inch scale, three-piece laminate of rock maple with a custom composite black basswood two octave fingerboard and a flame maple headstock veneer matching the body. The instrument is finished in stunning high-gloss natural or transparent color and a satin neck. The hardware is black chrome, and the bridge is a unique custom carbon/graphite monolith, an individual assembly for each string which also integrates the transducer system. The Saber Bass is a lightweight, comfortable design that is familiar in feel, revolutionary in concept, and inspiring to play. The Saber Bass will enable the player to create a highly detailed bass soundscape, composed of rich complex harmonics, vocal mids, and sparkling highs, built on a foundation of strong, bold, and focused low end response. Players will immediately recognize the perfectly balanced sound, clean string to string separation, precise note articulation, wide dynamic range, and excellent sustain. A powerful and versatile onboard EQ section gives the player easy access to the enhanced tonal palette, and superb touch sensitivity creates an intimate connection with the string and the instrument. The extended frequency presence and quick response is particularly well suited to the fretless models, providing an upright-like thrust and bloom, with a quicker decay than the fretted models, translating to a sweet, vocal-like quality.
